COPD and GI Cancer

Gastrointestinal cancer refers to malignant conditions of the gastrointestinal tract and accessory organs of digestion, including the esophagus, stomach, biliary system, pancreas, small intestine, large intestine, rectum and anus. GI cancer is the most common form of cancer which effects both men and women. Many patients with Gastrointestinal cancer have chronic diseases including COPD. Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease is a progressive disease that causes airflow blockage and breathing-related problems. It was observed that the most common cancers in patients with COPD include lung, liver, colorectal, breast, prostate and stomach cancers. The risk of developing cancer is higher in patients with COPD compared with patients without COPD.
